The Past Simple is basically your personal time machine for yesterday.
Think of it as your “Yesterday Report”:
- ✅ Trips (“I fell down the stairs.”)
- ✅ Wins (“She found 5 euros in my pocket.”)
- ✅ Fails (“I lost my keys, again.”)
- ✅ Abroadien moments (“They ordered chicken and got an octopus.”)
Anything that happened – good, bad, embarrassing, or heroic – it all lives in Past Simple.
👉 We use Past Simple when the action is finished.
The story has a beginning, middle, and end – even if the end was you crying in the supermarket.

Yesterday’s Chaos
Yesterday, I tripped over my suitcase 💥 and fell into the hostel fountain. My new roommate laughed so hard that he spilled his coffee on the floor. Then I stood up, smiled, and pretended everything was normal. But everyone in the lobby stared at me like I was a crazy tourist. Later, I changed my clothes and escaped to a café. There, I ordered tea, but the waiter brought me soup. Finally, I paid the bill and went back to the hostel. On the way, I found a lottery ticket. I scratched it and won €500!
In the end, my embarrassing day became the luckiest day of my trip.

Quick Explanation
- Regular verbs → add -ed:
- walk → walked, jump → jumped, panic → panicked
- Irregular verbs → they refuse rules. You just have to memorise them:
- go → went, eat → ate, fall → fell
